tadea's driver training helping businesses cut transport costs

Billingham-based sustainability company tadea is helping businesses to drive down transport costs by training up employees in efficient driving techniques.

tadea runs a range of workshops and activities designed to help organisations – both large and small – reduce the amount of money they spend on fuelling their vehicles. Driving more efficiently also helps businesses to cut the amount of carbon emitted whilst out on the road.

Transport costs can be significantly reduced by changing the ways employees drive: the average UK driver could reduce their annual fuel bill by up to £270* by implementing efficient driving techniques; multiplying such savings across entire businesses helps highlight the magnitude of the potential savings to be made and the importance such training can have on business running costs.

Actions which can help save fuel can prove as simple as:

  • Changing up in gear between 2,000 and 2,500 RPM wherever possible, as keeping engine speeds low reduces fuel consumption
  • Ensuring that correct tyre pressures are maintained

Not only does driving efficiently help to reduce fuel consumption, but – through heightened awareness of driving techniques and road conditions – also increases driver safety levels too.

Robyn Lavery is part of tadea’s Employee Engagement team. She says: “Regardless of whether your organisation has a single vehicle or an entire fleet, it is possible to cut motoring costs and improve your environmental credentials by getting involved with our efficient driver training programme.

“Transport is a vital element in the operation of many businesses – there is no getting around that. What tadea does is help boost driver efficiency to make travelling more sustainable – from both a financial and an environmental point of view.”

In addition to workplace-based events, tadea can also arrange for employees to take efficient driving lessons with a professional, qualified instructor. These lessons provide practical advice and efficient motoring experience and help to further reduce the amount of fuel used while on the road.

tadea’s efficient driver training complements other services offered which are also designed to help businesses cut running costs and reduce carbon emissions. These include employee engagement programmes focusing on behavioural change in the workplace and also the performance of energy audits, which can reduce an organisation’s energy bills by up to 20per cent**.
