Persimmon revenues up 12%

North East construction firm, Persimmon Homes, has announced revenue rises of 12% for the last 12 months.

The company was optimistic for the year ahead after a strong set of financial result for the year ending 31st December.

Persimmon will release full details near the end of February, along with details its sister companies results.

The house builders’ sister firms Charles Church, Westbury Partnerships and Hillreed Homes finished over 9,900 homes last year, up 5% from 2011, with an average selling price of £173,400 and revenues of £1.72bn, up 11% year-on-year.

Persimmon, who on Tuesday predicted a rise in first time buyers in 2013, has recently secured approximately 3000 new homes across the UK as a part of Government-sponsored scheme FirstBuy, which supports first time buyers in getting on to the property ladder.

Managing director for Persimmon Homes North East, John Eynon, said: “As we look forward to the busy spring selling season, we’re sure that schemes like FirstBuy will offer many people that first vital step onto the housing ladder.”

“The response from prospective purchasers is extremely positive and we’re confident that government schemes including NewBuy and FirstBuy will support our sales even further.”

“As a group, we have increased the volume of new homes legally completed by six per cent, our average selling price has also gone up by six per cent and our revenues have increased by some 12 per cent.”

“The year has started strongly for us in the region, with developments ongoing across the North East and new ones due for opening in Blyth, Newcastle Great Park, South Shields and Ashington.
