Innovative product sparks £300,000 investment at insulation company

Soaring global demand for a North East company’s innovative insulation products has sparked a £300,000 investment within the business.

Advanced Industrial Solutions (AIS), manufactures industrial insulation products designed to protect and insulate offshore pipework.

The company now need more employees to cope with the strong global demand for their award-winning jet fire insulation jacket, including a substantial order from Kazakhstan worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

AIS are taking on three new members of staff and are investing £300,000 in its North Shields fabrication plant to expand the facility.

Launched last year, the Jet Fire Pro 120 is designed to provide jet fire and hydro-carbon fire protection to ESDV valves, actuators and equipment, primarily on offshore platforms.

It won an innovation award for its unique engineered system with uses 13 layers of specialist material to withstand extreme temperatures.

As well as including materials used by NASA, the jacket is only 59mm deep but also features a weather pro-layer which repels weather to prevent moisture from infiltrating pipe work and corroding the structure.

Managing Director of AIS, Paul Stonebanks, said: “Since launching our unique jet fire jacketing system onto the market last year we have been delighted with the global response.

“We’ve seen huge demand from countries such as Russia, Angola and Azerbaijan with this latest order coming from Kazakhstan.

“Two years of painstaking research and development went into the jacket to ensure it addressed industry problems such as pipe corrosion and complex maintenance.

“At only 59mm deep the Jet fire Pro 120 is 2-3 times thinner than alternative fire protection systems making it easier to fit, transport and maintain.

“It also has an operating capability of -60ºC to 1,350ºC - the largest temperature range currently on the market and is the only flexible fire resistant insulation solution worldwide certified to both international standards, ISO 22899-1 and OTI 95634.

“Customers clearly appreciate these innovations and we’re pleased to be able to expand our centre as a result.

“This is great news for jobs and the economy, as well as putting the North East on the global map for industrial insulation products.”
