Go North East sponsors festival celebrating the region

Go North East have won headline sponsorship of the upcoming Festival of the North East, creating a specially designed double decker bus for the event.

As part of the sponsorship deal the bus company will transform a double decker bus into an eye-catching mobile Festival venue..

The bus will be in service on one of the company’s many routes from June.

The deal comes as Go North East celebrates its 100th year anniversary of being part of the region’s life and economy.

Stephen King, Go North East marketing and sales manager said: “When the Festival approached us to become the headline sponsor, we loved the fact that they were using a Double Decker bus as the main focus of their brand identity.

“The transformation of the bus means people across the region can be involved with the Festival and more importantly, become part of it.”

“We are very proud to be involved with the Festival of the North East, particularly in our centenary year, as not only does it connect the region through all that’s great, but it highlights the reasons why the North East is a vibrant, creative, cultural place and why we are so proud to call it home.”

The specially branded bus will make its first appearance at the Festival’s media launch, April 22, travelling from the south of the region to the north stopping off at key Festival locations.

And, throughout June, as a Festival venue for ‘Its Playtime’, the bus will be transformed into a hub of activity as the people of the North East will be encouraged to jump aboard the bus to contribute stories of great games and things to do to make the region more playful.

Mo Lovatt, Festival of the North East manager says: “Go North East is the perfect sponsor for the Festival of the North East as both strongly connect people and places.

“A double decker bus features in our visual brand identity for this reason because buses are a part of everyday life as well as an inexpensive and accessible way to explore the region.

“We’re delighted that Go North East is supporting this Festival and the fact they have brought our ‘brand’ to life is really exciting. We’re looking forward to seeing the Festival bus on the road.”
