RTC North bid for RBS Youth Enterprise Intiative

North East company RTC North have entered the second stage in their bid for funding in the RBS Inspiring Youth Enterprise Initiative.

The independent business services company is the region’s only organisation to be invited to move to the second stage which involves a public vote and panel selection.

The RBS initiative has been set up to support organisations that help young people set up in business and develop entrepreneurial skills.

And in the North East there is currently a large gap between industry need and young people leaving education.

In their bid for support from the initiative, RTC North has launched a four stage competition for students called ‘Design and Innovation Challenge.’

The competition aims to make a practical crossover between science, technology and business and is open to students of different age groups.

It will also encourage young people to develop key business skills, gain an innovative approach to problem solving and create real business solutions.

Established in Sunderland, RTC North works with local companies to help them win customers, and create jobs through product innovation, market research, technology transfer, commercialisation and business growth.

Janine Marshall of RTC North said: “At RTC North we recognise the need to bridge the gap between industry need and the core competencies and skills of young people leaving education.

“By introducing an interactive Challenge that promotes innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship we want to help bridge that gap and cultivate an innovative and an appropriately skilled future workforce for this region.”

To vote for RTC North’s scheme, visit the RBS website here. Voting closing on Tuesday April 23, at noon.
