Newcastle super casino, Aspers has created 12 new jobs on the back of a £1m investment programme.

The casino recently carried out a transformation of it’s Newcastle site, creating a new slots gaming centre and establishing Asper’s Sports Bar on Stowell Street which boasts the largest viewing screen in the region.

The refurbishment also included a cosmetic revamp of Freya’s Restaurant at the gaming floor bar, Tanzibar.

Further to the cosmetic transformation, the investment has supported much needed job creation in the region, creating positions across all levels of staffing including key managerial roles.

Filip Horta, has taken on the role of head of hospitality with full responsibility for all aspects of Aspers’ food and beverages.

Originally from the Czech Republic, Filip has spent the past nine years working at casinos in London and Manchester honing his skills in a fast paced environment prior to coming to the north east to join Aspers.

Chris Chapman, from Whitley Bay, has been appointed as an Electronic Gaming Technician and will use his extensive experience to oversee the smooth running of the state of the art Aspers’ Slots.

Other newly created roles include, a Sports Bar manager and a further six Sports Bar hosts, two customer service hospitality hosts and a guest relations role..

General manager, Ally Myles said: “Aspers’ prides itself on setting and maintaining high standards across its venues and Newcastle is no exception.

“The investment the company has made in the refurbishment will ensure that we continue to be the region’s leading casino operator and thereby make an ongoing contribution to the local economy, as we fulfil our commitment to creating sustainable employment.

“I am delighted to welcome all new members of staff and look forward to the senior members of the team making a significant contribution to our ongoing success thanks to the depth of experience they each bring to their new roles.

“Looking forward, we anticipate increasing the number of people who enjoy the Aspers experience by capitalising on Newcastle’s reputation as a party city and attract more visitors with the introduction of tailored experience packages which will also be of interest to the corporate market as companies seek to host events with a difference.”
