Taste of Tunisia for North East businesses

Tunisian Ambassador, Nabil Ammar, was in Durham this week to talk about opportunities for North East businesses in his country.

Mr Ammar spoke to businesses in Durham, in an event that followed February’s Newcastle conference on North East trade links with the EU Single Market.

Those present heard about opportunities in sectors such as digital technology, offshore, R&D and biotechnology.

The Ambassador was joined by trade officials from Tunisia and London, including Noureddine Zekri, director-general of FIPA, the Tunisian investment agency.

He said: “I was pleased to meet representatives of firms in North East England. The New Tunisia is opening up more opportunities for co-operation, and we want to find customers, clients and partners for some of our modern technology and high quality businesses.”

The event was organised by the Anglo-Russian Centre, based in Whitley Bay, in association with Tunisia’s investment agency and embassy.

A follow-up trade fair is set to take place in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, in June.
