Hammer goes down on £1.1m at Blundells auction

More than £1.1 million worth of property went under the hammer at Blundells Auction House’s event in Sheffield recently.

Fifteen of 22 properties up for auction sold above their guide prices, with one builder’s yard plot on Shirebrook Road in Meersbrook being snapped up for more than triple its guide price of £10,000.

Renovation properties once again dominated the books at the auction, held in Sheffield on May 22, with buyers successfully bidding on homes in Southey Green, Walkley and Norton Lees.

The sold rate for the event was 70 per cent and sales totalled £1,129,950, with seven properties remaining unsold and one withdrawn from the auction.

A former lock keeper’s lodge on the banks of the River Don in Long Sandall, Doncaster, went unsold - interested parties are advised to contact the auction house directly.

Lucy Crapper, senior auctioneer at Blundells Auction House, said: “It was an extremely busy room with plenty of active bidding on a great range of properties.

“As the property market continues to be a tough place to buy or sell, auctions are really increasing in popularity - especially for people looking to buy-to-let, or for a residential or commercial renovation project.

“We are now listing for our July auction and we are already getting a keen number of enquiries from potential buyers.”

More than 1,400 people now receive the Blundells Auction House catalogue and legal documents can be viewed online, making the process of purchasing at auction easier and open to all types of buyers.

Blundells Auction House also offers a service for telephone bids, proxy or non-attending bids if potential buyers cannot attend personally on the day.
