Fostering the entreprenurial spirit worldwide

Every year SABMiller commits millions of dollars to supporting entrepreneurship projects in many of its markets. This year alone, SABMiller – including our Foundations – invested over US$6 million in competition programmes to foster entrepreneurial activity worldwide.

Through our projects, we aim to create the support networks that micro and small enterprises need to survive and thrive. Small and micro businesses are critical to economic growth; they play an entrepreneurial role in meeting the needs of local consumers and larger businesses, drive improvements in innovation and often play a key role within communities. They create local jobs and incomes, lift people out of poverty and give greater economic empowerment to many women

Starting in South Africa, SABMiller has been involved in supporting entrepreneurs since 1995 and now has programmes all over the world. We know that creating dynamic, resilient growth in small businesses requires more than simply offering start-up grants or seed funding. Instead, we take an ‘ecosystem’ approach to supporting entrepreneurship; building supporting networks which provide capacity building, mentoring and access to funds and markets.

We do this because it makes business sense. Where societies and economies thrive, our business also thrives. This animation illustrates just some of the programmes that we have around the world, helping entrepreneurs to grow and succeed, contributing to the growth and success of their own communities.
