Man City announce new Thai partnership
Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) have announced their second Thai partnership in as many weeks, with car battery brand, GS Battery.
The Club said on Thursday the Japanese manufacturer will become their official Car Battery Partner for Thailand.
GS Battery was established in 1885 and, in addition to manufacturing car batteries, they make power supply systems and lighting equipment for their 28 factories across 14 countries.
In a similar deal to MCFC’s sponsorship agreement with Thai drinks firm, est Cola, GS Battery will make a TV advert with City players to be aired across Thailand.
The company will also use the club’s crest and player imagery across their packaging and marketing materials.
Tom Glick, chief commercial and operating officer of MCFC, said: “GS Battery’s reputation for technological research and development speaks for itself.
“Their hallmark for perfection and achievements worldwide over the last century are well documented and to partner with such an iconic brand in Asia is not only an honor for City, but also a statement of intent, as we continue to build a global Club of the future.
“We are striving to build a high performing football club to be enjoyed by our growing fan base around the world, whereas GS Battery also strives for continuous technological and environmental advancement in order to develop the highest quality products for its customers.
“This shared vision will allow both organisations to passionately deliver a more exciting football experience for fans across Thailand.”
Prakasit Pornprapar, executive director of Siam GS Sales Co Ltd, added: “Manchester City is internationally recognised as a football club for the new generation of football fans.
“Within a short period of time, they have already gathered over 2.3 million supporters in Thailand. Our partnership with City will not only help create a new era in Thailand’s football development, but also simultaneously enable GS Battery to broaden its brand awareness and build confidence in our products.”
“Through supporting our local football industry by sponsoring the Thai Premier League and Division 2, and partnering with Manchester City, it is hoped GS Battery will help raise the international standard of our local game, while helping to create opportunities for Thais to one day enter world football in the near future.”
