MDS ensure ongoing Warrington investment with new HQ
Leading North West billing and customer management company MDS have announced that they have safeguarded their future in the region.
MDS, together with its sister company Lavastorm Analytics, have secured a lease on their new regional headquarters based in Birchwood, Warrington.
This confirms their continued presence in the region and on-going investment in the Warrington community.
The 30,000 sq ft space at The Point, located on Birchwood Boulevard, will be the new home to more than 225 employees following their relocation from their current sites at Cinnamon Park, Fearnhead, Warrington.
The new office space will assist the businesses expansion and future growth plans which includes the appointment and training of up to ten local apprentices this year, who are being recruited from Warrington Collegiate.
MDS was formed in 1988 when Chairman, Martin Dawes built one of the first ever Mobile Virtual Network Operators in the world, the business has grown in status and is a recognised as a market leader.
The BSS platform created by MDS provides managed revenue and customer management solutions to support operators and service providers, to enable them to profitably grow revenue and effectively serve complex customer bases, in particular the business and virtual network operator markets.
Commenting on the move Dave Thomas, chief financial officer of MDS said, “The move to larger premises will allow us to better facilitate our employees. Doubling the square footage reflects a significant investment by our business, and demonstrates our long term commitments to staff and customers. The increase in space will support great expansion and future growth.
“Everyone at MDS and Lavastorm is excited about the move and we’re pleased to be staying in the area, which means that our staff are happy their commute to the office hasn’t changed significantly”
Building owner, Royal London Asset Management, has only just completed the full refurbishment of The Point and beat off strong competition to secure MDS and Lavastorm as tenants on the whole building on a new 10-year term.
Councillor Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: “It is fabulous to see a local business that has grown and flourished in the Borough putting down new roots to secure its tenure and allegiance in the town. The Point at Birchwood is a great location and is a befitting address for MDS and Lavastorm’s new HQ.
“Warrington Borough Council is committed to facilitating and encouraging business growth in the town, as set out in our framework Warrington Means Business, and so I also applaud MDS and Lavastorm for further investing in the town’s future by creating new apprenticeships which will offer real training and job opportunities for our young people”.
Phil Owen from Royal London, comments: “The fact we have secured such a major letting, only 3-months after completing the refurbishment works, is a testament to both the quality of the space and competitive terms we were able to offer”.
The move is scheduled for early October.
