Business Northumberland helps Ashington firm "breathe easier"

Northumberland entrepreneurs and businesses are being encouraged to take advantage of free 1-to-1 advice and mentoring from an ERDF funded programme.

The Business Northumberland scheme offers Northumberland-specific business information and guidance and represents an investment of £1.35m from Arch, The Northumberland Development Company and ERDF.

Ashington-based renewable energy providers, Green Breathe Easy Energy Ltd, recently received advice from Ian Coull, an adviser on the scheme.

Ian helped founders John Wharton and Lewis Harding to develop a business plan that effectively promoted the business’ USPs.

The firm offer bespoke pricing straight from the live market and aim to reduce customers’ tax burden through removal of their Climate Control Levy.

The pair were also given guidance on sources of finance and strategies for approaching key lenders.

Lewis said: “Ian was extremely helpful with regards to developing our business and pushing us in the right direction. He allowed us to overcome obstacles in relation to the funding streams that were available and explained how to go about accessing these avenues, as well as giving sound financial advice for us to get things right from the start. This gave us a strong foundation to build and develop our business further.”
