Opening doors to the construction industry
Galliford Try, the leading housebuilding and construction group, is opening up its site at Chapel House Medical Centre for the Open Doors Weekend on September 27-28.
Open Doors events will be taking place across the country to show the diverse and exciting career opportunities that construction has to offer and the wide range of skills that need to come together to make buildings and infrastructure part of our everyday lives.
The Open Doors Weekend is the result of a partnership of four leading industry bodies, UK Construction Group (UKCG), CITB-ConstructionSkills, The Considerate Constructors Scheme and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
The project in the west end of Newcastle, involves the construction of a purpose-built primary health care centre.
Galliford Try is working on behalf of Ashley House Plc, a specialist company supporting NHS Trusts, Health and Social Care Services and GP’s. The development occupies the site of an old church hall and clinic, demolished to make way for the new facilities.
These include over 1,500 square metres of space for primary care for the Parkway and Holmside GP practices with an onsite pharmacy and additional self-contained rooms for other healthcare providers.
The new premises will enhance medical service provision in the area, offering patients a more accessible and expanded service, delivered from a modern and purpose built environment which is set to open in late Autumn.
Galliford Try Partnerships North Managing Director Stephen McCoy said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for all of our team to open up our Chapel House Medical Centre site and show the public what construction has to offer. We are always interested in encouraging people to become involved with our industry which has the real potential to provide the opportunities that young people need today.”
Anyone interested in coming along and experiencing a live construction site and what the industry has to offer should register an interest on the Open Doors website at: http://www.opendoorsweekend.co.uk/
