Artez secure Newcastle Eldon Buildings contract
Bolton-based construction firm Artez has started work on the £72,000 Newcastle’s Eldon Buildings project.
Artez were appointed by Leeds-based Eddisons and will carry out remedial repairs, decoration and stone cleaning on the Grade II Listed buildings.
Artez director Mike Banton said: “We have a lot of experience in delivering remedial works on listed buildings and it’s becoming a USP of ours to undertake projects like this. We understand the intricacies involved and have great contacts with conservation experts and officers to execute our work in a sensitive way.”
Eddisons’ Ian Harrington added: “Following a robust, competitive tender process we selected Artez because they offered the best value for money and an innovative solution on how the project could be best delivered on this historic and challenging site.”
The buildings are owned by the Friends Life Limited pension fund and are currently home to a number of retailers including Hotel Chocolat.
Retailers within the buildings will continue to operate while work is carried out with Artez erecting temporary signage to help guide customers safely around the active site.
