North East recruiters continue international expansion

Washington based specialist recruitment agency, Oil Consultants Ltd, has taken another step in its global expansion with the opening of its new office in Houston, USA this month.

The company already supports clients in over 90 countries and this latest step follows the opening of an Australian office in 2012 and the establishment of trading entities in both Indonesia and Malaysia earlier this year.

Helen Smith, CEO of Oil Consultants, said: “We have always realised the importance of providing local support to our clients and consultants. By having a physical presence in an area we develop a better understanding of the local situation and can respond much more quickly to requests. In a time when more and more agencies are doing business via the internet and telephone, having people on the ground really helps us differentiate ourselves.

“We have appointed a chief executive for the North America region, Jon Marrs, who is developing a team based out of the Houston office over the coming months. This model of growth was pioneered by our Australian office. The team there was established just over 12 months ago and in that time we have increased business in the region so that it now accounts for over 20% of company turnover. North America is a region of huge potential growth for us and we fully expect to repeat these successes in that area.”

“Our current client base includes multinational operators and service organisations as well as new and emerging companies in the sector. Despite only recently establishing a physical presence in the area we are already starting to see increasing business from both existing and new client relationships.”

The company envisages that its international growth plans will also support further recruitment at its north-east headquarters.

Helen added: “Whilst we are looking to grow the team in Houston we will also need to employ more staff here in the UK to help support with the increased volume of business.

“The success of our company comes from the staff we employ and we are fully committed to keeping and developing our base in this region.”
