Tex Mex franchise comes to Consett

A restaurant franchise that offers a mix of Tex Mex and Thai cuisine is set to open a 180 cover premises in Consett, creating around 40 full and part time jobs.

Tiger Bills, which recently expanded into the North East with a Whitley Bay restaurent, will open up in a former Italian restaurant on the Project Genesis site, next to the 24 hour Tesco Store.

Nathan Towersey, Franchise and Operations manager for Tiger Bills, said: “Consett is a fast developing town and we think Tiger Bills will be a great fit for the area.

“What we offer is something very different and we’re sure that it will be received extremely well.”

Mr Towersey also praised the support given by Durham County Council in supporting the project.

He added: “We have had amazing support from the Regeneration and Economic Development team who have helped us in everything from recruitment to training.

“They have got completely behind us and been a huge asset in helping us recruit locally.”

Tiger Bills offers diners a wide range of choices from two very different cuisines, Thai and a Western-style grill.

Diners can pick from a particular cuisine or mix and match to create a unique dining experience. The Thai menu includes soups, curries and stir fries, drawing their inspiration from Thai street food while the Western-style grill includes everything from ribs to steaks.

“Getting a foothold in the North East is really important to us and hopefully this will show our commitment to the region.”

The Consett development is the second site to be opened by the company in the North East, with a franchise restaurant just recently opened at Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
