Rotherham’s biggest steaks going down a treat!
“Big steaks are going down great!” that’s the message from the Real Steakhouse & Grill at the Double Barrel in Thurcroft, Rotherham. In the past six weeks since the steakhouse opened it has served 4200 steak dinners the best sellers being the 24oz and 32oz – which, according to the steakhouse’s Managing Director and founder Craig Savage, is a sure sign the recession is over!
Founder and managing director of the Real Steakhouse & Grill, Craig Savage said: “They say in the catering industry that the recession is behind us when people start eating more steak – and it’s certainly true here! The challenge to eat one of our 72oz steaks is really capturing people’s imaginations with many attempts. We’re one of the only steakhouses in Yorkshire to offer this and it is attracting lots of interest, with diners inviting their friends and colleagues down to watch them attempt the feat! We are really pleased with the number of bookings we have taken for Christmas parties and have some really exciting plans for Christmas and the New Year. And a Northern Soul night booked for 18th January 2014”
Craig adds: “We’ve had a fantastic start since we opened at the end of October. Feedback from customers is that they are looking for a healthier option, rather than Indian or Chinese food – and we are filling that gap in the market. What is helping us to build our reputation and brand which keeps customer returning is that we serve quality, locally produced food and this is perfect for most people who want to get away from the microwave meals often served up by some pub chains.”
The Real Steakhouse & Grill at the Double Barrel is owned by Jason Mace, managing director of marquee and gazebo company Gala Tent, based in the Dearne Valley, who invested around £80k in refurbishing it. MD Craig Savage, and his Real Steakhouse & Grill brand is now gaining a reputation as South Yorkshire’s premier steakhouse.
14 new jobs were created at the Double Barrel steakhouse, including chefs, waiters/waitresses, bar tenders, cleaners and gardeners and the new steakhouse, which can seat 140 people, has had a great response from the local community.
Real Steakhouse & Grill Customer James Hughes said: “I would much rather pay that little bit more knowing all the food is locally produced/reared and free range and good quality, like it is at the Double Barrel, over pubs and chains that get bulk stock in at cheap prices and make a horrible meal.”
Ross Landells, a Real Steakhouse & Grill customer, said “It is pointless going out for a microwave meal from so-called chains when you can get same thing in a supermarket for a fraction of the price! If I’m eating out I’m eating good food, like they serve at the Double Barrel, simple as that!”
The Real Steakhouse & Grill offers a free meal to anyone who can eat a whole 72oz steak, so is inviting more people to take up the challenge.
Chef Sally Emerson changes the menu regularly to keep it fresh and exciting and the steakhouse has recently started serving the REAL breakfast, a full English breakfast, with an 888 option on the menu, eight eggs, eight bacon, eight sausage with all the trimmings, between 10am and 12.30pm Saturday and Sunday, to give people a great start to their day!
The Real Steakhouse and Grill at the Double Barrel is available for private hire for children’s parties, christenings, anniversaries. It sells a range of steak, chicken and vegetarian dishes and they are currently taking bookings for Christmas parties and for Christmas Day lunch.
