Law firm eye up growing academy schools sector

Durham law firm Swinburne Maddison LLP say the growing spate of academy school conversions is informing its growth strategy.

The firm recently completed deals in Lincolnshire , Tameside and closer to home in Stockton.

As a result of the increased work the business has grown its property and employment teams.

Partner Martyn Tennant, said: “We are delighted to be working on behalf of The Enquire Learning Trust and helping to facilitate the development of its expanding portfolio of academies.

“As well as benefiting from both our professional and commercial expertise, Enquire and its academies also benefit from an exceptional partner-led personal service, which has received positive recognition by the DfE.

“In January 15% of all schools were either operating as academies or were in the process of converting. As this number is set to increase and more schools wish to pursue academy status, we anticipate an increased level of business coming from the sector.

“We are already working on the next conversion and expect to undertake in excess of a further 10 conversions in the next 12 months.

“The academy conversion process is challenging but I believe because of our very personal approach it is possible to make this less onerous for the head teacher and the senior leadership team.”
