Proposals to convert Liquid/Envy nightclub to student accommodation

Plans have been submitted to Newcastle City Council to convert part of the Liquid/Envy nightclub in Newcastle city council into student accommodation.

The proposals outline “partial demolition” of the building and the construction of 50 shared cluster apartments, providing 350 beds.

Retail units are planned for the ground floors of the 7, 9 and 11 storey high clusters.

Documents also state the conversion of part of John Dobson House into a cafe, bar and restaurant/function room.

The site is currently owned by London-based developers Magnetic Limited, and the named agent on the proposal is Ainsworth Spark Associates.

The proposals will be decided by Friday March 21, 2014.
