5 weirdest things that have happened in a job interview
“A new year means a new you”, or so the cliche goes, and getting a new job is one of the most common resolutions.
The interview process might seem daunting, but we can all console ourselves that at least it wont ever be as bad as these gaffs made by real interviewees.
1. A candidate was attending interview at a law firm in Leeds for a job in their finance department. He turned up in full decorating gear, explaining that he’d lost track of time and thought it was better to turn up on time than late and appropriately dressed.
2. In an interview for a position in marketing a candidate told the interviewer that they really didn’t enjoy marketing work and really missed their previous career in engineering. Needless to say they were not offered a second interview.
3. Someone lied in interview claiming they had a full driving licence. Unsurprisingly, they were duly sacked on Day One when it became apparent that they had lied like a cheap Japanese watch.
4. A candidate left an interview which had gone really well and then stand outside of the building of the interview, ring their partner and say very uncomplimentary (to say the least) things about the interviewer, right under the window of the same person.
5. One interviewee we heard about, who was applying for a job at a sports television network, when asked why he wanted the job said: “Well, I love cricket and I need the money” - proving that honesty is not always the best policy
