International expansion beckons for Cheshire pump supplier

A North West based pump supplier is looking to overseas markets with the launch of new websites in Malta and Cyprus.

Anchor Pumps, of Warrington, also want expansion in Germany and France in the near future.

The company said the rate of sales from these countries has increased immeasurably in the last year, and the launch of custom websites in Malta and Cyprus was a prelude to a greater presence in western Europe, where there is a larger market for industrial and domestic pumps.

The plan is to launch in Malta and Cyprus first to ensure the company is “logistically sound” before exploring the German and French markets.

In 2013, Anchor Pumps saw an amazing 300% increase in the number of products sold online year on year, giving the business the confidence to launch the latest internationally targeted websites.

Anchor Pumps managing director, Warren Holmes, said: “Ecommerce has provided Anchor Pumps with the platform to grow from a small, local business into an international online retailer in just over three years.

“We have firm plans set in place to continue Anchor Pumps expansion in 2014 and we look forward to developing our business as our customer base continues to grow online.”

Holmes said the enquiries the company receive from these countries are from mainly English expatriates searching for their type of product.

Now the UK’s leading pump distributor, Anchor Pumps successfully launched their first ecommerce store in 2011 and have since primarily focused on building the business online.
