Harrogate PR expert to speak at international conference

The managing director of a Harrogate PR agency will take to the stage at an international Internal Communications Conference in London this month alongside global players in the media and PR industry.

Recognised as an industry expert in staff engagement, Di Burton, managing director of award winning Cicada Communications, was hand-picked by conference organisers to lead a presentation on engaging ‘blue and white collar’ staff.

Di will highlight the challenges which multinationals face in securing alignment to company vision and values from a diverse workforce.

The event will be attended by an international audience comprising communication directors and heads of HR and Marketing.

Di said: “No longer can organisations work on a compliance model. Employees need to feel the organisation is open to contribution and challenge – only then can engagement take place”.

Di, who founded Harrogate-based agency Cicada Communications 27 years ago, is a member of the Cabinet Office Peer Review Network, and is a regular conference speaker on topics covering reputation management.

The annual Internal Communications Conference is staged by global training group BOC across two days, with speakers from the BBC, Eriksson, HSBC and the Home Office among others. The event is held on 24 – 26 March 2014 at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London.
