North West medical firm launch revolutionary new treatments
A pioneering North West medical technology company is targeting major growth after the launch of two revolutionary new treatments.
Diagnostic Healthcare, headquartered in Altrincham, last year secured £1 million investment from the North West Fund for Biomedical, which has enabled the company to introduce new treatments for both varicose and spider veins.
The new treatments are projected to boost the company’s turnover by £500k.
Diagnostic Healthcare has introduced the Venefit procedure for varicose veins, and it is the only expert provider outside London and the South East now using state-of-the-art laser technology to treat spider veins.
Liat Karni, managing director of Diagnostic Healthcare, said: “The treatments we offer for varicose and spider veins are a huge step forward for our business and the tens of thousands of people treated for this problem every year.
“In the past varicose vein treatment has meant going under the knife which is painful for the patient and expensive for the NHS.
“The service will be provided by specialist clinicians who perform over 60,000 NHS vascular investigations and treatments per year.
“What we offer revolutionises how this common health problem is treated – patients are back on their feet more quickly and the procedure is less painful and invasive.
“This is precisely the kind of new and cutting edge service that we wanted to offer using the investment from The North West Fund for Biomedical.
“Diagnostic Healthcare is on the fast track to growth.”
The company currently offers patients MRI and bone density scans, obstetric ultrasounds, cardiac testing, health screening and reporting services through its centres and mobile units nationwide.
The new treatments for varicose and spider veins are currently available at Diagnostic Healthcare’s clinic in Manchester and will be available nationwide in the coming months.
New NHS guidelines recommend such ‘minimally-invasive treatments’ instead of a painful operation.
An initial consultation costs from £198.
Diagnostic Healthcare merged with Chester-based Ultrasound Now, a provider of ultrasound services, in December, offering an enhanced service in more than 45 clinics in the North West.
