nesma signs up 200th student
The North East Sales and Marketing Academy (nesma) has signed up its 200th student.
James Kimmins from Durham has registered to study the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Professional Diploma in Marketing. Since he graduated from Northumbria University James has been working at Nissan and is now looking forward to the next stage of his career.
James said: “I have decided that marketing is the career for me! I realised that I needed to update my professional qualifications and study with a successful organisation, which is why I chose nesma.”
The North East Sales and Marketing Academy (nesma) has built an impressive reputation in just four years.
In the latest results published by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), nesma had an outstanding 90% pass rate across all levels of qualification. This is well above the CIM’s last national average figure of 78%.
And last year the successes of the staff and students were recognised by the CIM when it commended nesma for the outstanding performance of its students in 12 of the qualification modules they sat.
The commendations, which were first awarded in March 2012, read: “The Awarding Body at The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has commended North East Sales and Marketing Academy for the excellent standard of results achieved.”
The latest commendations are for modules of the CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing, the Professional Certificate in Marketing, the Professional Diploma in Marketing and the CAM Diplomas in Marketing Communications and in Digital Marketing.
nesma has expanded the range of qualifications to include the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ Foundation Award and the Digital Marketing Institute’s Professional Diploma.
Students can study the CIM Introductory Certificate to find out just what marketing involves and progress through the Professional Certificate and Diploma to the highest level, the Chartered Post-graduate Diploma. Nesma tutors support and guide students through each level and encourage them to qualify for Chartered Marketer status.
Nesma has also begun working in schools to build up an interest in marketing from an early age that will open up the possibilities that a career in marketing can offer.
Veronica Swindale, nesma’s founding director, believes their flexible and supportive approach provides organisations and students with the best results.
“We are able to deliver the tuition in a variety of ways to suit both the employer and the student, so, for example, we have run in-company programmes for businesses as diverse as Arco in Hull to NHS in Newcastle as well as delivering online and centre based programmes.
“Another piece of good news we received at the end of last year is that the programme we offer for the CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing is now eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan through the Skills and Funding Agency. I have been aware that for many students and indeed businesses, the cost of studying can be daunting, but I hope this will encourage more people to study with us at Postgraduate level to further their careers.
“I am convinced that the fact that all our tutors are all qualified, experienced practitioners means that we are able to provide practical, pragmatic teaching which students can apply to their own workplaces immediately.”
This philosophy is proving successful, with many students choosing to progress upwards from level three through to level seven qualifications with nesma or to take specialist qualifications in digital marketing or public relations.
