Barratt homes Yorkshire plans 1,770 new homes, 3,000 jobs as Osborne extends Help To Buy

One of Yorkshire’s leading house-builders has announced it will be launching fifteen new sites over the next 12 months, underpinning thousands of jobs for local people.

Barratt Yorkshire plans to launch fifteen new sites and build 1,770 new homes this year in many areas including 299 new homes in Leeds, 244 new homes Bradford, 245 new homes in Wakefield, 78 new homes in Kirklees and 151 new homes in Doncaster, 202 new homes in Hessle and 182 in Barlby, with more than 3,540 jobs being supported in building and selling the new homes.

The housebuilder predominately employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen – so local businesses and people will benefit directly from the jobs.

A spokesman for Barratt Yorkshire.“The Prime Minister has said again and again that one of the best ways to boost economic growth and get people working is through building more homes.”

“The plans we have announced show exactly how that theory works in practice. We expect to launch eight new sites this year.

“These will provide 1,770 desperately needed new homes for local people at a time when there is a chronic shortage of housing.

“In addition to the local construction jobs underpinned in building the new homes, the local people who move into the new housing will also spend their wages locally.

“This translates into a significant boost for local retailers at a time when concerns remain about the national financial picture. It’s exactly what this area needs.”

“The really great news is the continuation of Help to Buy Equity mortgages until 2020, which means homemovers can get on the ladder with just a five per cent deposit, a 20 per cent equity loan, and a 75 per cent mortgage.”
