Bradford’s Belgravium announces £1.1 million contract from southern rail operator

Belgravium Technologies, the Bradford-based provider of mobile on-board retail solutions, has announced that it has secured a major contract, worth £1.1 million, from rail operator First Great Western (FGW).

It is anticipated that the majority of system components will be delivered in 2014.

First Great Western operate commuter, regional and branch line services, covering London, South Wales, the West of England and Devon and Cornwall including major towns and cities like Cardiff, Exeter, Plymouth, Bath, Bristol and Reading.

All FGW trains will be hard-wired for Wi-Fi and GPRS communication which will allow the new system to communicate in real-time with host stock control, sales and marketing systems.

The new on-board retail system will be based on the Belgravium’s front-end software running on the company’s latest generation mobile computer.

Mark Hardy, group managing director, remarked: “It is gratifying that the First Great Western team identified clear technical and operational benefits relating to our proposed end-to-end IT system.

“The past six months has seen significant changes to our team operating in the airline and rail sectors and the award of this contract is a great endorsement of the work the new team is doing.”
