Morgan Hunt Manchester - recruitment consultants help young people ‘Get on Track’ with interviewing skills.

Morgan Hunt’s Manchester office played host to nine young people studying on The Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust (DKH Legacy Trust) with ‘Dragon’s Den’ style interview process.

Morgan Hunt joined forces with DKH Legacy Trust in 2010 and work with the Trust to get disadvantaged young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) to ‘Get on Track’ through a number of initiatives. One of which is ‘Dragon’s Den’ – named so because the format takes on a sales-style pitch held in Morgan Hunt’s offices. This time their consultants in Manchester ‘got stuck in’ with role modeling, under competitive play, the recruitment interview process. “Some of the young people that came in were very inspiring. They are applying to volunteer at local schools, taking part in community projects and at the end of the day they demonstrated a clear and focused aim of what they want to do“ says one consultant dragon. With everything that they have at their disposal Morgan Hunt engage with groups of young people going through the programmes to help them with a number of aspects of the recruitment life cycle. The events are staged to be as real life as possible with work exercises and consultant feedback. “It is clear to see how those taking part can really be influenced by the support and encouragement that we give to them. One member in our group is aiming to be in the Olympics in 2016 and others want to pursue careers in social work, teaching and sports coaching. Everyone involved had a great afternoon and it is very satisfying for us to be able to impact so much by doing what we do on a day to day basis“ said another consultant dragon. Congratulations go to the two top performing participants as the dragons could not separate them in their enthusiasm to get paid work and take part in volunteer schemes which really impressed.

These participants will be invited back to the Manchester office to take part in 1:1 CV support and guidance sessions with other consultants to help them with each of their personal pledges to become a lifeguard and to get on an horticulture apprenticeship scheme. Of the day one young participant said, “I really enjoyed today and met some really nice people who helped me to focus on what I wanted to achieve and how to go about it“.
