West Yorkshire's Clough & Company adds global charity to client list

The charity L’Arche has appointed West Yorkshire based chartered accountancy firm Clough & Company to handle its annual audits.

L’Arche currently operates 11 faith based communities in the UK that offer shared homes and working environments where hundreds of adults with learning disabilities can lead fulfilling lives.

L’Arche also works cooperatively with social service and social work departments, health authorities, primary care trusts, registration and regulatory authorities, housing associations and other organisations.

In addition to its work in the UK, L’Arche is a member of the International Federation of L’Arche Communities which operates in approximately 30 countries.

Roland Clark, director at Clough & Company, says: “L’Arche is a well-known charity that does a fantastic job under difficult circumstances so we’re delighted to be working with them.

“Any charity with a turnover of more than £500k requires an audit to verify that accounts are complete and accurate. The audit also helps to identify areas where financial performance can be improved and can be beneficial when organisations want to generate funding, so they are a valuable tool for charities.”

Debbie Walker, finance co-ordinator, from L’Arche says: “As a charity we rely heavily on key funders, donations and fundraising events for our income so it’s essential that we make every penny count.

“Our audit plays a key role in demonstrating how we’ve spent our money and highlights where improvements can be made. Clough & Company has an established audit team, local offices and a great track-record working with other successful charities which made them the perfect choice for us.”

Clough & Company was established in 1953 and employs 88 members of staff across a range of departments including business development, management services, corporate finance, audit services, taxation, corporate solutions and financial management, executive recruitment and IT evaluation.
