Wacky Warehouse and John Barras operators see drinks sales increase
The pub company behind brand such as Wacky Warehouse and John Barras, has reported a substantial rise in drink sales over the last nine months.
Spirit Pub Company, which operates pubs across the UK, including a porfolio in the North East, experienced a 5.2% rise in like-for-like drink sales over the 40 weeks to May 24.
The firm said its pubs continued to trade ahead of the market with like-for-like food sales also increasing, by 4.8%.
Spirit roled out its Flaming Grill brand during the quarter, including eight venues in the North East, through acquisition or conversion of existing properties.
Like-for-like turnover during the period increased 3%.
Mike Tye, chief executive, said: “We remain pleased with the strong performance over the quarter, with both divisions continuing to demonstrate the benefits of investment in our estate, infrastructure and people.
“In our Managed division, we have now commenced our planned expansion of the estate and we continue to see the benefits of the turnaround in the Leased division.”
