MP encourages SME’s to sign up to Ripon European export fair

Julian Smith, MP for Skipton and Ripon, is encouraging small and medium sized businesses across Yorkshire to sign-up to a major Export Fair about the opportunities for European trade.

The event, being organised jointly by the MP and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), takes place at Ripon Racecourse on Friday 27 June. It is the inaugural UKTI Export Fair of a series set to take place across the country on behalf of Trade Minister Lord Livingston.

At the Fair, businesses will be able to get advice on exporting, finance for exports and specialist workshops on different markets and business sectors.

Representatives from different countries from across Europe will also be present, including from the British Polish Chamber of Commerce who will discuss the opportunities for SMEs of selling their products to the country.

Julian Smith said: “Yorkshire businesses produce many outstanding products which should be showcased around the world.

“This Export Fair gives them the chance to hear about the opportunities available to them to sell their products internationally and get the advice they need to allow this to happen.

“I am also delighted we will be welcoming representatives from European business organisations, including the British Polish Chamber of Commerce, to Ripon for the event so we can highlight the benefits available from exporting to other EU member states.”

Monika SamuÅ›, from the British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC), who will be at the event, highlighting the opportunities of looking overseas. She said: “For the next 15 years, Poland is likely to grow at double the pace of the UK economy. It’s a market not to be ignored by any UK exporter looking for new customers.

“The Trade Team at the British Polish Chamber of Commerce offers a range of practical services to help UK exporters enter the Polish market. We’re focused on finding importers, distributors and agents.

“Since we were set up last September, we’ve helped British business over 750 times with a range of advice, contacts, market information, route to market strategies, sales and marketing support and access to our sizeable member network.

“During the Fair in Ripon we will discuss key issues covering opportunities for trade in Poland during a 1-hour long master class meeting led by the representative of the Trade Team.”
