UKTI Export Fair rolls into Ripon Racecourse

A UKTI Export Fair rides into a North Yorkshire racecourse this week, providing an opportunity for companies to find out more about the wealth of support available to help them succeed in overseas markets.

The UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) event, at Ripon Racecourse on Friday (June 27), will offer a chance to network and hear from like-minded companies about their experiences and speak with UKTI staff from international offices.

The fair, supported by Chamber International, takes place just a week before Yorkshire prepares to host the Grand Depart of The Tour de France, which will bring unprecedented international interest to the region.

Export chief for Yorkshire and the Humber, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) regional director Mark Robson, said: “The eyes of the world will be looking our direction for the Tour De France, so the Export Fair is a great opportunity to create awareness about the companies in Yorkshire that sell overseas and those who may be thinking of doing so.

“Whether you’re a business just thinking of dipping your toe into the overseas market, or if you’re already well established internationally, the Export Fair is a great opportunity to access first hand advice from UKTI overseas staff and other experts on the various aspects of international trade.”

The latest trade in goods statistics from HM Revenue & Customs revealed that total exports from Yorkshire and the Humber were worth more than £4.07 billion for the first quarter of 2014 (January to March) – sustaining the record growth achieved in 2013.

Mark added: “Evidence shows that businesses which trade overseas are more efficient, more resistance to shocks and unexpected occurrences and ultimately more profitable. We’re really looking forward to welcoming and engaging with local at the event.”
