151 new homes to be built on Doncaster Rovers old Belle Vue site
The Council has given permission to build 151 new houses on the site of Doncaster Rovers’ old ground Belle Vue.
Councillor Chris Mills, said: “The Belle Vue re-development project has taken a lot of planning from the Council and Barratt Homes, and I am very pleased to see permission granted on the scheme.
“This project will add even more high quality housing to Doncaster, helping to improve an already thriving area.”
Belle Vue Football Ground was home to Doncaster Rovers from 1922 to 2006, when the club relocated to their current home, the Keepmoat Stadium. It was demolished following the move, and the ground has been vacant ever since.
Earlier plans for high-rise apartment blocks, formulated before the housing crash, were opposed by local residents and will not be resurrected.
