Gateshead software specialist awarded national contract

Gateshead-based education software specialists Mesma has won an undisclosed contract with national not-for-profit group The MindSet.

Formed by a group of FE colleges, alongside employability and recruitment experts The REED NCFE Partnership, The Mindset works towards assisting FE push the employability agenda from within to benefit its learners.

The contract, won following a competitive tender, will see the development of the Student Employability Toolkit software for all colleges and could potentially involve a 10 year roll out and delivery programme.

The Mesma platform was initially set-up in response to changes implemented by education watchdog Ofsted, which led to schools, colleges and independent providers receiving reduced notice of inspection.

Company director Louise Doyle, who expects new software development jobs to be created on the back of this and other recently won contracts said: “We are delighted to be able to provide the technology backbone for the roll-out of the Student Employability Toolkit.

“We could immediately see synergies between our current platform and the brief for the Toolkit.

“Our learning to date on how to deliver easy to use, accessible software has already been of value and we have identified how we can enhance it further due to our fledgling partnership with REED NCFE.”
