Lex Autolease awarded Clarke Telecom contract
Clarke Telecom, the North West-based wireless telecommunications infrastructure service provider, has awarded Lex Autolease the contract to be its fleet provider, reducing its annual fleet costs by a fifth.
The new contract is a whole-life cost policy, covering vehicle costs throughout their lifespan. It will bolster Clarke Telecom’s infrastructure with an 80-strong fleet comprising of Vauxhall Astra, Insignia and Mokka models, leading to improved efficiencies and better services across its network of telecoms engineers and support staff.
A full appraisal of the company’s existing fleet contract was undertaken by Lex Autolease’s Strategic Fleet Consultancy Team who identified areas of potential cost saving, whilst working closely with fleet manager, Joanne Shepherd, to ensure the proposed choice of vehicles met the needs of her drivers.
Following this strategic review, Lex Autolease’s advisors recommended making the switch to a Vauxhall ‘solus’ badge deal, with all vehicles sourced from one manufacturer.
Funding methodology for the fleet cars in the deal has also been changed from an existing Hire Purchase deal to a new Contract Purchase with maintenance agreement.
Clarke Telecom’s new arrangement will considerably shrink the company’s carbon footprint, with the majority of new vehicles emitting a third less CO2 than the business’s previous fleet.
An additional efficient fuel management proposal from Lex Autolease is also currently under consideration by the team, which would further materially reduce costs by £180,000 over a four year period.
John Phythian, Financial Director at Clarke Telecom, said: “From start to finish, our experience of the team at Lex Autolease has been wholly positive.
“By carefully and thoroughly reviewing the fleet service we already had, and implementing the new package, our costs should be considerably reduced. We can invest the money we’ll save back into improving our core services, which means everybody will benefit.”
Chris Jackson, Business Development Manager at Lex Autolease, said: “We understand the importance of a strong infrastructure for a company like Clarke Telecom.
“Really getting beneath the skin of the business allowed us to recognise opportunities to strengthen its fleet as well as save them money.
“By including maintenance services in the deal, the impact of any issues with vehicles are minimised so the Clarke Telecom team can get on with doing what they do best.”
