Haworths Chartered Accountants help launch entrepreneur's magazine venture
Accrington-based Haworths Chartered Accountants has added its own telling contribution to ensuring that the nation gasps with delight and surprise at the revelations in a new ‘real life’ magazine.
Their client, former national newspaper editor and women’s magazine veteran, Paul Carter, is hoping that his new venture, ‘OMG!’, will be a sensation when it launches at the end of October.
Mr Carter was already a client at Haworths when he began looking for additional funding to support the launch of the magazine.
Chartered accountant Jeff Allsebrook directed him to a funding advisor that facilitated the finance that ‘OMG!’ needed from the North West Fund.
Mr Carter explained: “I have worked with Haworths for many years but hadn’t gone to them for help with funding because I didn’t think it was a service they offered.
“I mentioned we were looking for funding and Jeff said he could help. He even attended the initial meetings with me, providing a great source of support and knowledge and the usual extra-mile service I’ve come to expect from Haworths.”
Mr Carter secured the full amount of funding he was looking for from the North West Fund, an EU-financed funding organisation that provides grants from £50k - £2million for companies based in the North West.
“It was a key moment in the development of our business strategy,” he continues, “because it even affected our decision to launch the business in Liverpool where we had the best chance of being awarded funding.
“With the money in the bank, we’re now all set to run media campaigns to support the launch and ensure that ‘OMG!’ ends up on coffee tables and in handbags across the UK.”
Jeff Allsebrook adds: “Whilst we don’t provide funding for our clients, our understanding of financial matters and wide ranging contacts mean that we can point them in the right direction, as clients aren’t necessarily aware of where to go for funding, or perhaps don’t even think they are eligible.
“As a business we pride ourselves on our client relationships. A good accountant should always be the first port of all for any company, not only looking to save money, to but grow and diversify and we are delighted that we’ve been able to contribute to ’OMG!’s success.”
