ENER-G is shortlisted for national manufacturing award
Combined heat and power (CHP) specialist ENER-G has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for engineering excellence.
Sustainable energy group ENER-G has been shortlisted for The Manufacturer of the Year Awards 2014. As one of the four finalists in the Through-life Engineering Services category, ENER-G will compete for a crown previously held by manufacturing giants such as Rolls- Royce and Monarch Airlines.
Judges were impressed by ENER-G’s ability to develop and maintain long-life cogeneration systems that achieve outstanding availability, predictability and reliability with low lifecycle costs.
Due to ENER-G’s specialist engineering and maintenance skills the company ensures that its products operate at peak performance and have a longer than average operational life. While 12 to 15 years is the normal lifecycle for a CHP machine, many of ENER-G’s systems last well beyond 15 years, with a number of 25-year old machines still in operation.
Innovations such as the new E-Power two-in-one remote monitoring and control system and energy management system are enabling customers to optimise performance of both the CHP system and wider energy plant within a building - providing long-term cost and carbon savings.
E-Power is built into ENER-G’s CHP systems and monitors and controls more than 200 parameters on each CHP unit. It alerts ENER-G’s national service centre to any anomalies or operational issues, enabling them to run diagnostics, rectify problems remotely, or schedule an engineer visit, if necessary.
Customers can gain instant insights into their CHP performance via a touch screen mounted onto the unit. This supplies data that can be accessed in graphical form and at various levels of detail.
Callum Bentley, editor of The Manufacturer said: “These finalists represent the versatility and strength which is present within UK manufacturing. This year has been a year of increased confidence in the sector and a confidence which we have been seeing personally on a day to day basis as we deal with individuals and companies around the UK.”
ENER-G will now go through to the awards final, taking place at a gala ceremony in Birmingham on 27 November.
