Yorkshire pet care service heading for Dragon's Den expands into Lancashire
Yorkshire’s largest pet care service The Dog Walker has launched its first franchise outside of Yorkshire and a new franchise in Silsden, West Yorkshire, as well as expanding the team.
The firm is expanding for the first time into the North West with two former English teachers swapping the classroom for the dog house to launch the first franchise outside of Yorkshire.
Former RSPCA main board director Mike Hogg is also joining the team to set up a new dog walking franchise in Silsden after more than twenty years with the animal charity.
These latest appointments come on top of a busy year for The Dog Walker as well as being invited to take part in the Dragon’s Den BBC programme.
Mike said: “I seized the opportunity offered by the latest round of restructuring at the RSPCA to restructure my own work-life balance. I’ve always loved animals and knew I wanted to continue working with them in a more hands-on way.
“After researching animal care businesses nationally and meeting with Richie, I decided I liked its business model and animal-focussed ethos. I am really excited to get started!” Richie Womersley, managing director of The Dog Walker, said: “We’re delighted to welcome these new franchisees to our team.
“It’s a real endorsement for our business to have someone of Mike’s calibre and expertise join us and Harvey and John are our first new franchise owners outside of Yorkshire.
“This is the exciting start of our plans to roll out the franchise framework nationally over the next couple of years.”
