David Cameron pledges tax cuts for 30 million people
In the final speech of the Conservative Party Conference, David Cameron pledged to cut taxes for thirty million people if his party win next year’s election.
The PM said the changes would back people who “do the right thing.” He would raise the tax-free allowance from £10,500 to £12,500 by 2020.
He also said the threshold for the 40p income tax rate would be raised from £41,900 to £50,000 by the end of a five-year Conservative government.
The party said that the tax reform proposals depend on economic cirmcumstances over the next six years.
Cameron also promised the protect the NHS Budget for England, saying “You can only have a strong NHS if you have a strong economy.”
He also promised that his government would not “walk on by” in the battle against Islamic state extremists.
Immigration will be at the heart of the government’s EU policy, Cameron said, promising “English votes for English laws”
Cameron said: “Britain: I know you want this sorted, so I will go to Brussels, I will not take no for an answer and when it comes to free movement I will get what Britain needs,”
“On the 7th of May, go to bed with Nigel Farage and wake up with Ed Miliband. I don’t know about you, but not a bit of that works for me.”
