Deloitte’s Newcastle office in graduate recruitment drive
Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has made a further investment in its talent development programme in the North East by taking on an additional 12 graduates and school leavers.
The young recruits are made up of 10 graduates and two school leavers, who have joined the firm as part of Deloitte’s BrightStart scheme, a five-year training and development plan specifically for A-level students.
The new intake, recruited from a broad range of academic backgrounds, will be based at Deloitte’s Newcastle office.
Alongside working with clients across the region they will undergo an extensive training programme, as well as studying for external exams.
The talent development programme is designed to help Deloitte identify and develop the business world’s future leaders.
Deloitte, which employs more than 160 staff in the North East, also launched Deloitte Access earlier this year, a new skills and education programme run in conjunction with Teach First that helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access professional employment opportunities.
In the North East the firm is working with Cardinal Hume Catholic School in Gateshead to provide tailored support and mentoring to help students develop a broad range of workplace skills.
Northumbria University graduate Lucy Godsmark, from Morpeth, is one of the new intake, joining the Tax team in Newcastle as a consultant.
Lucy, said: “Working for one of the ‘big four’ is a dream for any finance graduate.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to learn and grow with Deloitte over the coming years.”

“It is a significant investment in time and resources by Deloitte, but it is an essential part of ensuring the firm’s future success in the North East.
“There is huge competition for places on our graduate programme, and we only want the very best candidates.
“That’s why each of those who made it through had to pass a rigorous five-stage interview process.”
