Search Office Space Golf Event Raises Nearly £1,000 for Diabetes Charity

Serviced office broker Search Office Space, hosted their 2014 Property Agent Charity Golf Day in October, to raise money for local Diabetes charity, The Michael Green Foundation.

The event took place at Dyrham Park Golf Resort on October 9th with around 50 participants. The course, which is ranked as one of the best in Hertfordshire, hosts golf events throughout the summer, so it proved to be an ideal choice for the event with its north west London location.

The tournament got off to a strong start in the October sunshine, but 60 mile winds and a lightning storm hit the area around lunch time. The storm delayed play for nearly 90 minutes but after careful consideration of the dangers, play was resumed with the final team returning just before 5pm.

Search Office Space (SOS) CEO, Richard Smith, commented, “The SOS agent golf event provides a great opportunity for commercial property professionals from across the sector to network within our industry, have a lot of fun and also helps us raise money for our house charity, The Michael Green Foundation who support people with Type 2 Diabetes.”

The event attracted leading property experts from companies like Strettons, The Langham Estate and Braiser Freeth. The tournament, which includes networking opportunities, 18 holes of golf, lunch and fundraising raffles and competitions, is one of a number of similar events hosted by the leading property broker.

Stephen Hickey, Head of Agent Relations, said, “The Golf Day is a great opportunity to give back to our agents across London and the UK who have shown us incredible support. These are working relationships we build day in, day out so it is fantastic to meet together for a pleasurable day, whilst also supporting our house charity.”

Joanne Green, founder of The Michael Green Foundation commented, “We’re delighted that the SOS golf event raised money to support our work building awareness of the effects of type 2 Diabetes. Over 850,000 people today have Type 2 diabetes and more than seven million are at risk of developing it within the next few years. From the personal tragedy of losing a father and husband, far too early, through ignorance of this condition, our charity are working hard to spread awareness of the early warning signs of diabetes. Support from companies like Search Office Space is therefore vital to help us achieve our goal.”

Participants attended from across the commercial property sector, many with previous tournament experience. The event winner was Matt Clarke from Stupples Chandler Garvey, the leading commercial property consultants based in the Thames Valley. The winning team was made up of David Garson from SOS, Mark Cohen from Summit, Michal McPherson from AOS Group and Duncan Hamilton-Young from Avison Young.

Winners of the competitions were as follows: “Longest Drive” winner was Steve Reeves from Darragh House. “The Yellow Ball” winning team was made up of Steve Marsden, the global sales director at SOS, Steven Reeves from Darragh House and James Oliver from Braiser Freeth who also won the “Nearest the Pin” competition.

The event raised almost £1,000 for charity to support awareness and education of type 2 Diabetes.
