Administrators ‘confident’ buyer can be found for York interiors firm with cash flow issues

Geoffrey Martin & Co has been appointed as York-based Holmes Catering Equipment Ltd enters administration.

James Sleight and John Twizell of Geoffrey Martin & Co were appointed joint administrators of Holmes Catering Equipment Ltd on Thursday 16 October 2014.

Part of the Holmes Group , Holmes Catering Equipment Ltd specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of full commercial kitchen schemes, food retail displays, bespoke foodservice counters and restaurant interiors.

Based in Full Sutton, near York, the business works for some of the UK’s leading companies, including Tesco, Morrisons, local authorities, hotel chains and the Royal Household.

With a turnover in excess of £5 million, the business sought the protection of Administration due to cash flow issues.

Redundancies have been made, although the administrators say that the majority of the work force has been retained and they are currently trading the business in order to complete current outstanding customer contracts.

James Sleight, director at Geoffrey Martin & Co said: “The business has a strong brand and forward order book and is an attractive proposition for a competitor, investor or related business.

“I have already received many expressions of interest and am confident a buyer will be found.”
