Change Management - a new opportunity for the NE

There are changing winds in the North East. A strengthening economic growth means organisations will be experiencing the pressure to change as they grow and develop to meet demand and be competitive in global markets. Most organisations more than ten years old look nothing like they did five years ago, and it is likely that in the next year or two organisations will not look as they do today. Businesses change their structure, processes and procedures, brand, vision, their products and services and people come and go. Yet against the often turbulent nature of change, managers still have to ensure the business continues as usual.

A number of North East professionals concerned about the challenges and effectiveness of change have come together to form a group to support change initiatives. The volunteers from in and around the North East are to set up the North East chapter of the CMI (Change Management Institute) in the UK and this first event on the 18th November is all about getting to know you.

We are keen to meet as many of you as possible, whatever your interest in Change Management may be. Perhaps you are an academic, a freelance consultant, a student or corporate Change Manager, or perhaps this is all new to you. We aim to bring everyone who has an enthusiasm about change management together to talk about this professional discipline whether you are just setting out in Change or are an ‘old timer’.

This event will allow plenty of networking time as well as some interesting speakers.

We are delighted to be sponsored and hosted by the Newcastle University Business School.

Meet our Speaker: Sir Leonard Fenwick CBE

We are delighted to have a highly prestigious expert to talk about organisational change at our launch event. As the longest serving Chief Executive who has entered his 50th year in the NHS, Sir Leonard has been the lead of the Freeman Hospital since first opening in 1977. He pioneered ‘first wave’ NHS Trust status (so called opting out) in 1990/91 to form The Freeman Group of Hospitals and then amalgamation of the Freeman, Royal Victoria Infirmary and Newcastle General Hospital in 1997 as The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust which in turn in 2006 became licensed as an NHS Foundation Trust.

Today Newcastle Hospitals are one of the largest NHS provider organisations – turnover circa £950m; 13,500 staff; most comprehensive specialist portfolio in UK encompassing tertiary, secondary, community and primary care with an ongoing £400 million capital investment progress.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the NE Chapter of the CMI! You can find out more here https://www.change-management-institute.com/events/1680/visitor-register? or contact Katharine on 07976 535864
