How to maximise newsletter engagement rates
Well, building an email list, spending a lot of time, will not be of any use to you if your subscribers are not responsive. A 5-6 figure newsletter list really means nothing if nobody is opening your emails.
If you are looking forward to measure your newsletter engagement rate then you need to focus more on “total open rate” and “click-through rate.” If your open rate and click-through rate are higher than 40-50% then it means your campaign is working well for you. And if you wish to know how you can do this then you need to pay attention to a few things we have listed down here.
Sending Emails Which Really Carry News
Newsletters are those emails that carry news. If your subscribers have subscribed to your emails then it means they expect some good news from you. News can be anything. It can be about your company’ success, offers, introduction of new products or new services or about anything which can be of interest for your email receivers (but it shall be pertaining to your type of business).
Sending More Intriguing Information/Creating Some Suspense
Email marketers need to pay heed to sending emails which carry intriguing information for the newsletter receivers. Each time you send an email to them then there shall be something new for them (Marketers who do not pay attention to this or those who just send emails which brag about the same things again and gain or unrelated things or mundane offers do not reach their target).
Information is needed to be gripping. If the information you are sending is more fascinating or intriguing then this will make your receivers click on your email links to know more about it. Creating some suspense in your letter can really make your readers want to know something more about it. This can ensure click through rate. But (do not use “suspense type of subject lines” for your emails as this can lead your email to spam box).
One Email, One Goal
Each email campaign you run should have one specific goal. Too many goals through one email may not be possible to achieve. You need to pay attention to this. If you are trying to represent multiple things in your email then it means you are annoying your readers. Your readers might not like that.
Invoking a Sense of Urgency
When you send emails which carry offers then by inculcating a sense of urgency in your email content you can achieve your goal easily. Let us say you are running an offer for your subscribers. You can say the offer might end by this date or so. Try to select a nearer date. This will initiate interest among readers and they might want to take up that offer.
Even after passing of the date you can send the offer, extending the date for a week again or so (This is a business strategy which sometimes work but do not just stick to this kind of strategy all the time as this may make your subscribers feel you are not honest with them).
Of Course, Designing of Your Email Template has a Role Too
Yes, the design of your email template has a pivotal role to play in increasing your newsletter engagement rate. You need to come up with simple but professional-looking design for your email template. There should be proper segmentation of your email. You can display your message through images as well but you need to come up with simple and smaller images.
