The House Crowd’s MD commended at Great British Entrepreneur Awards

Frazer Fearnhead the founder of the House Crowd, the world’s first property based crowdfunding platform has gained recognition for his entrepreneurism at a national awards ceremony.

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards, regarded as the benchmark for innovative business success in the UK, named Frazer as highly commended in the Micro Business Entrepreneur of the Year.

Judges felt The House Crowd founder, based in Hale, was a trailblazer, having created a unique, innovative and ground-breaking concept, now emulated the world over. Since the business launched in 2012 it has raised more than £7million from investors.

Frazer said: “You never expect recognition such as this. Since day one of The House Crowd, I have had confidence in the concept we have seen come to life, and I have always seen myself and the team as innovators – but for this to be commended in this way is exceptional.

“I have surrounded myself with very talented colleagues and they understand the heart and the soul of the business and what we are trying to achieve. The awards are truly fantastic and a huge honour to receive, but the real thrill comes from seeing your team pulling together to offer customers the best service possible and push the boundaries of what is possible.”

Over 130 entrepreneurs were finalists in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, in association with NatWest. Celebrating entrepreneurs who embody a spirit of disruption, innovation and enterprise, the Awards recognise business leaders from multiple industries across the 20 awards categories, including Digital, Young, Social Enterprise and three new categories Food and Drink, Fashion and Media Disruptors.

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards represented The House Crowd’s fifth award shortlisting of the year. The innovative team won an International Business Awards earlier this year after being named as Financial Services Business of the Year, and was also highly commended at the North West Entrepreneur Awards.

The House Crowd was set up in 2012 when Frazer spotted an opportunity to democratise the property market through crowd funding. Since then the business has raised more than £5million pound from investors.

His previous business success includes The Armchair Property Investor, a business set up to help amateur property investors. In three years, it sold more than £40m worth of investment property and was bought by Braemer Group Plc in 2007 for £2.25m.
