easyJet set to welcome more than 3,000 passengers at Newcastle International Airport this Sunday as airline breaks record for customers travelling home for Christmas
Sunday 21 December set to be busiest day for easyJet’s festive flying with more than 100,000 customers predicted to fly to or from UK
More than 3,000 passengers are set to travel in and out of Newcastle, with Geneva, Alicante and Belfast amongst favourite Christmas destinations for North East travellers.
A record 1.5 million passengers will fly with the airline between 20 and 29 December on over 11,000 flights with passengers travelling early to avoid the last minute Christmas eve rush.
Ali Gayward, UK commercial manager, said: “We are seeing higher demand than ever across our network this Christmas and we’re delighted that so many people from the North East have chosen to start the festive period with us.
“Whether customers are flying to visit friends and family or jet setting somewhere new for holiday, we are doing everything possible to make our customers’ Christmas travel as easy and affordable as possible.
“We’re also looking forward to the new year with 2015 set to be a big year for easyJet in Newcastle as we launch three new destinations from the airport to Split in Croatia and the Greek islands of Corfu and Rhodes in the summer.”
