PPL celebrates recognition in two employee experience awards

New technology boosts staff engagement and business results at music licencing company

Music licensing company PPL has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards that officially recognise businesses which strive to put their workforce at the heart of their operation.

The company has been named a finalist in the UK Employee Experience Awards in the categories for Business Change or Transformation and Employee Insight and Feedback. Additionally, in the Employee Engagement Awards (EE Awards), PPL is shortlisted in the HR Technology category.

With a variety of industries represented, those organisations that have been shortlisted for each of the awards have been able to demonstrate return on investment in people, innovation and employee experience. In all instances, PPL has been recognised for the introduction of its ‘People Records’ technology system.

Last year, PPL’s HR team completed a time and motion study to identify how much time was being spent by employees on HR activities. It found that approximately 5% of their time was being spent on a number of administration tasks, and therefore affecting staff productivity levels. Through the introduction of ‘People Records’, routine tasks such as updating holiday records and training information were made automated and paper-free. Staff can now access individual payroll and bonus information, policy documents, benefit information, organisation charts and more with one-click.

These developments have vastly improved the experience for employees and managers. The technology has saved the organisation a cost of approximately £10k associated with administration and headcount.

Kate Reilly, Director of People and Organisational Development, PPL said:

“At PPL we understand that a happy workforce means a productive one. Our HR team works hard to identify the needs of the business which is where the development of People records stemmed from. Rolling out the new system was incredibly smooth and we have had great feedback from our staff who now use People Records on a daily basis.”

Neil Skehel, Managing Director of Awards International, the organisation who run the Employee Experience Awards, said: “We are delighted with the calibre of entries we have received for these new Awards. I look forward to hearing the inspiring stories about all the hard work that goes on behind the customer view to ensure not only great employee experience, but great business results too. Congratulations to all the Finalists and good luck in the final round!”

Matt Manners, Managing Director, The Employee Engagement Awards commented: “We are excited by the calibre of business and finalist we have in our first year. Each, in their own way, is an example to every other business in the UK that aspires to engaging better with their employees and realising the extensive payoffs. Such as happier employees, deeper bonds of loyalty, greater efficiency, better wellbeing and providing an enhanced customer experience. To say I am excited to see who wins each category come January is an understatement.”

The winners of the Employee Engagement Awards will be announced on 28 January, at The Brewery, London. The winners of the UK Employee Experience Awards will be announced on 27 March, at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London.
