TLJ enjoys key card locks success with easyHotel

TLJ Security Systems, a leading supplier of smart security technologies to the hotel and accommodation industry, has completed a successful trial of its innovative card locking system TLJ Connect at the easyHotel in Croydon.

The Hull-based and family-run company is now in discussions with the easyHotel brand to install Connect at two further hotels in 2015.

TLJ Connect marries online and offline card systems, so instead of having to install an online system on every door, online hotspots are created on access doors.

The smart and secure system solves the problems many accommodation providers face. With offline or standalone card systems it can be time-consuming visiting individual locks to manually retrieve records or cancel lost cards, while online card systems need an online lock installed on every door for the system to work.

Any changes that are made centrally, such as cancelling cards or updating access times, are sent to these online hotspots. The access key cards then work as storage devices, downloading and uploading data every time the hotspot is used. As the card is used on individual locks, the information is then passed across.

The Connect system has been successfully trialled at the new eight-storey, 103-bedroom easyHotel on Addiscombe Road in Croydon, which opened its doors to guests in November 2014.

Luke Martin, managing director at TLJ, said: “TLJ Connect is an ideal solution for accommodation providers. The innovative system combines offline locks with online hotspot readers, providing instant control benefits while maintaining affordability.”

Johannes Hearn, head of property development at easyHotel, said: “The TLJ systems are spoken of in awe by most and with the greatest of respect – well done to TLJ on designing a system that our managers and franchisees have said ‘seems purposely built for a hotel operation’.”
