Growing North Tyneside print business reaches record £20 million turnover

North Tyneside print, packaging and supply chain business Elanders UK has recorded 2014 as its strongest year ever, reaching a record turnover of £20 million.

Elanders moved into its 84,000 square foot North Tyneside premises in 1999 with ambitions to almost treble its turnover from £7 million. Since this time, the company has invested in people, equipment and machinery in order to extend its service offering to customers, including a recent investment of over £1 million into its digital printing facilities.

North Tyneside is Elanders’ UK headquarters where it currently employs 182 people. In the past 12 months Elanders has continued to grow, adding new people with key skills to support the growth and diversification strategy.

Elanders UK’s managing director, Kevin Rogers, said: “We’ve worked incredibly hard over the last 15 years to reach our target of £20 million turnover, which is the highest turnover figure we have ever achieved.

“We have worked through some challenging times, including a national recession, but have invested carefully in equipment, machinery and people to be able to align our service offering to the changing needs of our customers.

“We work closely with customers to deliver a fully rounded support system that includes our supply chain and e-commerce services.

“Our approach is to act as a strategic partner for our customers and through our core business areas of supply chain, print, packaging and e-commerce, we help to optimise and develop the processes critical to their businesses, which could be the production of luxury goods, cosmetics and much more.

“While we’ve reached our target turnover, we won’t be resting on our laurels – the coming years will see us set stretching targets for Elanders and further hard work to establish our packaging offer.

“We see the North East as Elanders’ UK home, so investing in our local workforce is key for our future.”

In 2015, the company will continue to integrate Elanders UK’s specialist drinks industry packaging and label printing company in Cumbernauld, purchased in 2013. The total turnover for Elanders UK, inclusive of the site in Scotland reached £23million in 2014.
