Hulme Hall Grammar School Pupils Provided Unforgettable Experience
Hulme Hall Grammar School Computer Science pupils were recently provided an unforgettable educational experience at their partnered institute, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).
The budding computer technicians were given a guided tour of the universities new multi-million pound complex at Birley Fields campus and gifted a rare insight into the world-class facilities that MMU has to offer.
The academic visit enabled the GCSE pupils the opportunity to gain hands-on experience programming micro-controllers with leading academics and pupils. They even witnessed the fascinating devices in action installed in self driving cars and laser powered musical instruments.
After engaging in several demonstrations, the fascinated pupils were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to programme their own boards to detect various inputs and outputs which are fundamental to temperature and light. Head Teacher at Hulme Hall Grammar School, Rachael Allen, said: “We are extremely proud to obtain a strong partner relationship with one of the leading institutes, Manchester Metropolitan University.
“The Hulme Hall Computer Science pupils were honoured to be part of such a remarkable event and learn valuable skills to transfer into the classroom.”
Nicolas Ng, Hulme Hall Grammar School Computer Science Teacher commented:“ We are extremely grateful to MMU and Senior Lecturer Ellie Overland, for the incredible insight they presented to the pupils into the industry of Computer Science.“
