M60 contract tops record quarter for Bury-based Garic

The Bury-based company has been performing well winning a number of large projects including a £2.5 million contract from Manchester Smart Motorways, a joint venture collaboration improving 15 miles of the M60 and a further 5 miles of the M62 to the north and west of Manchester.

As a consequence Garic reports record quarterly sales of £4.5 million.

Over the next 20 months Garic will supply a broad range of site equipment including modular buildings, welfare units, fuel and water tanks for use at strategic locations between junction 8 of the M60 and junction 20 of the M62.

Manufactured at the company’s head office just a few miles away, the equipment will be used by the construction teams and members of the public who need recovery facilities.

The £200 million motorway upgrade is being completed by a joint venture company formed by Balfour Beatty, Carillion, Costain, Bam Nuttall and Morgan Sindall and is due for completion in Autumn 2017

Garic sales director Neil Richardson said: “It’s great to be working with Manchester Smart Motorways on this major road improvement project and so close to our HQ!

“With over 180,000 vehicles a day using this route we fully appreciate how important it is for the scheme to be completed quickly but also as cost effectively and eco-efficiently as possible.

“Our mobile welfare units are solar powered and our modular buildings are designed for roadside assembly, both of which will significantly reduce the cost and carbon footprint of the scheme.

“As Garic’s reputation for manufacturing top quality environmentally friendly, cost effective products has grown, so too has the number of clients wanting to buy them.

“Now we are adding new divisions and services to ensure we keep up with our customers’ needs.”
